Recuerdo que cuando comencé a cortar las telas para hacer este quilt, estaba segura de que sólo me tomaría un par de semanas tenerlo completo... pero por una cosa u otra, después de coser un poco pasó bastante tiempo pegado sobre mi pared, luego tuve el problema del hilo y bueno, después de 4 meses desde que corté las telas, finalmente ya está terminado.
I remember when I started cutting the fabrics to make this quilt, I was pretty sure it only could take me a few weeks to finish it... but after sewing a little, the pieces were on my wall for long time, then I had the thread issue and well, after 4 months since I was cutting the fabrics, finally it is ready.

Existen muchos artistas talentosos, algunos con más reconocimiento que otros, pero al brindarnos su obra pueden provocar, sólo con contemplarlos, con escucharlos, leerlos, diversos sentimientos que hacen que uno senta que se desbordan de nuestro cuerpo. Pintura, escultura, música, danza, escritura... es difícil para mí tener un favorito... sin embargo, al pensar en ello vino a mi mente mi poeta favorito: Jaime Sabines.

There are many talented artists, some with more recognition than others, but all they give us theire work and can make only by contemplate, listen or read, different feelings that make you feel that your body is overflowing. Painting, sculpture, music, dance, writing ... is difficult for me to have a favorite ... however,  thinking about it came to my mind my favorite poet, Jaime Sabines.

coloring monday or weekend cleaning

hola! el fin de semana estuvo muy tranquilo aquí, que sirvió para hacer limpieza en mi cuarto de costura, limpiar y reorganizar las telas, descubrir cosas que tenía olvidadas ahí y continuar trabajando con viejos y nuevos proyectos...

y este lunes me quedo con estas coloridas imágenes que creo que pueden ayudar para hacer algo lindo en la semana...

We had a very calm weekend, it was perfect for cleaning my sewing room, cleaning the shelves, reorganized and tidying the fabrics, discovering things I had forgotten there and continue working with old and new projects ...

Terminé un camino de mesa y realmente me encantó! fue completamente improvisado, usando tejidos de algodón y lino que fueron cosidos al azar... disfruté mucho este trabajo. Me gusta cómo lucen los quilts modernos e improvisados y creo que este es mucho como eso... y ahora está en mi tienda...

I finished a table runner, and I LOVE it a lot!! It was totally improv, just cotton wovens and linen, randomly sewed together... i really enjoyed work with this runner. I love modern, wonky, unmeasured quilts, and I think this is pretty much like that... and it is in my shop now...

qué es orgánico? lo que crece de forma natural? una certificación, comida más cara? buena salud? un estilo de vida? un negocio creciente y exitoso de los últimos años? no lo se, pero por momentos me parece un poco de todo eso... mientras tanto, elijo intentar cada vez más por mi cuenta, las opciones naturales que tengo y contemplar las formas orgánicas, que me maravillan...

what organic means? what grows in a natural way? a certification? expensive food? good health? a lifestyle? a successful business? I don't know, but at the moments It seems to be a little of all that... meanwhile, I choose try by my own, the natural options I have and contemplate the organic forms, who are wonderful...!

Tita's quilt

Tita es mi tía, una de las hermanas de mi mamá y este es un quilt que será regalo para ella. Hice este quilt usando 36 cuadros de un layer cake (de la colección Charisma) y 36 cuadros de 10" de tela en color sólido. Se dibuja una linea diagonal en el reverso de los cuadros de tela estampada. Se cose cada cuadro estampado con uno sólido con dos costuras a cada lado de la línea con 1/4" de separación. Se corta cada cuadro por el medio y se plancha abriendo la costura y se cortan para que el cuadro quede parejo a 9 1/2" y organiza las filas en 8 x 9.

Tita is my aunt, she is one of my mom's sisters and this quilt will be a gift for her.

I made it using 36 squares from a layer cake (Charisma collection) and 36 10" squares of solid fabric. Drew a diagonal line on all the print squares. Then with one print and one solid square right sides together, sew to 1/4 both sides of the line, cut down the line and press open the seams. Trim the blocks to 9.5" and arrange rows of 8x9.

La medida final de cada block es de 9" y el quilt mide aproximadamente 68"x76". Espero que le guste...! The final size of the block is 9 " and the quilt measures approximately 68" X 76 ". Hope she like it...!

Tenemos un invierno amable que no nos trata mal aquí, no  hay nieve ni temperaturas extremas, con un sol que aunque no calienta nos alegra los fines de semana, viento seco, tardes cortas, mañanas y noches frías sin calefacción... me dan motivos para pasar más tiempo en casa, arropada con los quilts que hago durante el año, cosiendo y planeando otros más...

We have a nice winter here that it is not  bad with us, there is no snow or extreme temperatures, we have a sun that warms a little but cheer us at weekends, dry winds with short evenings, mornings and cold nights in home without heater...  all that give me more reasons to spend time at home, wrapped in quilts that I made during the year, sewing and planning make more quilts...

Finalmente llegó mi paquete de intercambio, proveniente de Holanda....

Esta funda es la que Petra hizo para mi... verdad que es hermosa?? me encantan las telas que ella usó y el lino, me encanta la la textura que agrega...

Finally I got my swap package, from the Netherlands ....

This pillow case is that Petra made for me ... I love it, it is really beautiful!! I love that the fabrics she used and the linen, that adds a very gorgeous texture...

Y esta es la funda de cojín que yo hice para ella... usé 28 cuadrados de 2.5" de diferentes telas con muchos colores y el contarno en en blanco sólido para lograr que resaltaran...

And this is the pillow case that I made for her... I used  28 - 2.5" squares in a variety of fabrics and colors using white solid fabric for sashing to make the colorful pieces can be stand out...

y ella me consintió con esta preciosa guirnalda de crochet...

trabajando con telas hermosas, cortando, cosiendo, planchando, volviendo a coser...

tengo dos tops terminados... uno de ellos pronto estará listo para pegarle el bies, para el otro aún me falta tener la parte de atrás...

ambos serán regalos, que creo que es una de las cosas que más me gusta del quilting: poder compartir el trabajo y la creatividad que se pone en ellos. Me emociona mucho la idea de gente recibiendo quilts...

I have two quilt tops finished... one of them will be ready to sew the bies soon, for the another one, I need work on the back...

both will be gifts, and that is one of the thing who I love more about quilting: have the posibility to share the work and the creativity to make them. I'm excited about the idea of people getting quilts...

Aquí 2011 comienza con una nueva tienda Etsy.

El año pasado Verónica y yo decidimos cerrar la tienda que teníamos juntas y que cada una abriera la suya para tener un espacio propio donde compartir lo que hacemos. Así que aunque emocionante, los que venden en Etsy ya saben lo tedioso que puede ser algo proceso ahí. Elegir un nombre, preparar un banner, escribir las políticas de venta, tener las fotos y enlistar cada producto. Al final de cuentas toma un poco más tiempo del pensado, pero ya está hecho y me emociona tanto como si viera a mis perros bailando de alegría a mi alrededor. Por favor desénme suerte en esta nueva aventura...

2011 starts with a new Etsy shop here.

Last year, Verónica and I decided close the shop that we had together and each of us open another one to have our own space to share what we do. So although exciting, those who sell on Etsy knows how tedious it can be part of the process there. Choose a name, make a banner, write the shop policies, take photos and list each product. It takes time, but finally, it's done and I'm happy and seeing my dogs dancing of joy around me (yes, in my dreams). Please wish me good luck with this new adventure...

y aunque aún hay mucho por hacer en casa, es necesario hacer una pausa para ir a mi trabajo, pues ayer terminaron mis vacaciones...

and although I still have much to do at home, I need make a pause to go to my job, because my vacation days finished yesterday ...
