Había estado viendo el patrón en internet desde hace mucho tiempo y por fin lo compré y me di un tiempo para sentarme a coser. Decidí empezar haciendo un top en lugar de un vestido. Sabina tiene ya 18 meses y corté la talla 2T que le quedó bien y seguro le durará un tiempo más. Usé tela de algodón de quilting que ya tenía y un poco de espiguilla para el detalle del frente.

 I had been looking at the pattern at internet since many time ago and finally I bought it and found some time to sew. I decided to make the top version instead the dress. Sabina is 18 months old and I cut the size 2T. It fits great on her and I hope it'll last some time more. I use some quilting cotton fabric that I had in my stash and a little bit of ric rac for the front detail.

Las instrucciones son muy claras y la construcción del patrón es verdaderamente sencilla, como para hacerlo en una tarde.The instructions are very clear and the pattern construction is very simple, easy to make it in one afternoon.

De hecho lo más difícil fue tomarle las fotos a Sabina, quien no quiso cooperar y sólo se dejó fotografiar sentada, así que les debo imágenes de pie. 

in fact the hard part was taking photos to Sabina, who would not cooperate and only wanted to be sitting, so I owe the standing images.

polka dots blouse

Hice esta blusa para Sabina. La tela de lunares negros sobre blanco me gusta mucho, es como muy clásica, muy actual. Este tipo de blusas son super prácticas, pues no tienen botones, sino que por el elástico del escote, se ponen y quitan fácil. Para darle un toque diferente le puse un pequeño moño de listón en amarillo y como tengo suficiente tela para hacer más decidí tenerla a la venta en mi tienda Etsy, por si le quieren echar un vistazo.

I made this blouse for Sabina. I really like the polka dots fabric, it's like very classic but modern at the same.This kind of blouses are super practical, they do not have button closure,  It has adjustable elastic neckline that is very easy to pull on and take away easily. To give it a twist I put a small ribbon bow in yellow and as I have enough fabric to make more I decided to have it for sale in my Etsy shop, if you want to take a look.

little things

  

Este año el verano se me está pasado muy rápido. Los días parecieran acortarse en casa, ya que después de llegar del trabajo, la tarde se va volando entre la comida y los quehaceres, pero trato de disfrutar cada momento que tengo con mi niña. Ella está creciendo rápido y en las últimas semanas ha cambiado bastante, pues ahora se le nota más alta, no para de hablar y balbucear y parece que lo que más le interesa es gatear, intentar pararse y escalar... es una delicia estar con ella, escucharla y ver cómo me mira... y es muy difícil ser una mamá que trabaja fuera de casa!

This year the summer is going very fast. The days seem shorter at home, because after  work, the afternoon flies by between food and some house chores, but I try to enjoy every moment I have with my girl. She is growing so fast and in recent weeks has changed a lot, she looks taller  doesn't  stop talking and babbling and for now it seems  what she wants more is crawling, trying to get stand and climb... is a truly delight to be with her, listen to her and see how she looks at me... so is very hard to be a mom who works outside the home!

las sesiones de costura aunque disminuido han sido algo productivas, pues entre las siestas y la hora de dormir de Sabina he podido completar algunos pequeños proyectos... hice unas canastas de tela para su habitación (que son perfectas para los chupones y pequeños juguetes!), le hice batitas, blusas y baberos y yo me hice una bolsa grande para el mercado, que no he dejado de usar... y espero pronto empezar un proyecto nuevo, pues muero por trabajar en un quilt!

although my sewing sessions have been decrease at the same has been somewhat productive because between Sabina's naps and bedtime  I could complete some little projects ... I made some fabric baskets for her room (which are perfect for pacifiers and small toys!), I made some pinafores, blouses and bibs and make a big market bag for myself, wich I haven't stopped using ... I hope can  begin a new project soon, I really want to  work on a new quilt!

Blusa/Blouse: 260 Ella Blouse

Pantalón/ Pants: 238 Christine Pants

Hice otra blusa para Sabina pero esta vez decidí complementarla con un pantalón. Fue mi primera vez haciendo un pantalón y aunque tuve algunos errores, al final no se notan porque lleva elástico en la cintura. La blusa es talla 12 meses que a una nena de 6 le queda bien como vestido corto y conforme vaya creciendo le quedará como blusa. La hice con una tela estampada que tenía guardada, tiene unas flores pequeñitas que en cuanto la vi me pareció perfecta y le hice una sencilla aplicación con hexágonos, que creo que le da un toque divertido.

I made another blouse to Sabina but this time I decided to supplement with pants. It was my first time doing pants and although I made some mistakes at the end they aren't very noticeable because the elastic at the waist. The blouse is size 12 months and for a six months baby it looks good as a short dress and as she grows it will look like a  blouse. I made it with a fabric that I had in my stash, it has those lovely tiny flowers and when I saw it I thought it would be perfect for this. This time I made a simple application with hexagons, which I think it gives a fun twist.

thank you very much your comments and emails about my previous post. Alex came to home safely and fortunately the fire was controlled. Although a hudge area was devastated by fire, nobody was hurt and also was great to see the solidarity and the amazing support between neighbors...

Bright spring

 

Telas nuevas, pañales de tela y muchos proyectos que incluyen ropa para Sabina. 

Apenas cumplimos un mes desde que dejamos de usar pañales desechables y verdaderamente estamos felices con esa decisión, pues usar los de tela es más sencillo de lo que parece, así que además de ahorrarnos algo de dinero, el trasero de Sabina no está sentado en plásticos todo el tiempo. 

Comencé jugando con pequeños retazos de tela a hacer corazones y terminó siendo un miniquilt, y estoy pensando en hacer un pequeño tutorial. No he tenido mucho tiempo para hacer proyectos grandes o empezar un nuevo quilt (de lo que muero de ganas, por cierto), pero hacer ropa para Sabina me resulta muy satisfactorio y divertido. Hice un par de blusas más como esta y terminé un vestido que será regalo para la hija de unos amigos. Usé este patrón, fue bastante sencillo y luce super bonito.

Pensando en que ya pronto empezará con los alimentos sólidos y en sus actividades una vez que empiece a caminar, le hice a Sabina un chaleco/delantal que creo que le lucirá bien sobre un pañalero y a juego con unos bloomers. Hice unos cuantos más y ya están en mi tienda, por si quieren echarles un vistazo.   

Espero que el fin de semana me rinda un poco más y pueda pasar algo tiempo en mi cuarto de costura... ya veremos...

New fabric, cloth diapers and many projects including Sabina clothing. 
A month ago we stopped to use disposable diapers and we are truly happy with that decision, using cloth diapers is easier than it seems, so in addition to save some money, the little butt of my baby girl is not sitting on plastic all day.

I was playing with fabric scraps to make hearts and I made a miniquilt, also I'm thinking of doing a small tutorial about it. I haven't much time for big projects or to start a new quilt (can't wait to start another one, by the way), but make clothes for Sabina is very satisfying and fun to me. I made a couple of blouses like this one and a dress that will be a gift for the daughter of our friends. I used this pattern, it was pretty simple but looks really beautiful.

Thinking that my girl will soon begin with solid foods and activities once she starts to walk, I made a bib/apron that also I think it'll look lovely as a top on a onesie and matching with bloomers. I made a few more and they are in my shop already, if you want to take a look.

I hope can spend some time at my sewing room this weekend... we'll see....

Lately

 

Últimamente he pasado mi tiempo libre en la cocina y mi cuarto de costura, siempre acompañada de mi hermosa Sabina....Hice otra blusa, pero esta vez es un regalo para otra bebita (la hija de mi prima Marcy)... también empecé a hacer un móvil para la cuna de Sabina, usando fieltro y retazos de tela de algodón y espero poder terminarlo en unos días.... también por fin terminé un cojín que ya está en el sofá de la sala e inspirada en la primavera que ya se siente aquí, hice un pequeño conejo usando una vieja playera y siguiendo este tutorial y parece gustarle a Sabina, quien no deja de apretarlo y chuparlo cada vez que lo tiene entre sus manos.

Lately I've spent my free time at the kitchen and my sewing room, but always accompanied by my sweet Sabina.

I made another blouse, but this time it's a gift for another baby girl (my cousin's daugther) ... also this week I started to make a mobile for Sabina's nursery room, I used felt and cotton fabric scraps and hope I can finish it in a couple of days.... I finally completed a cushion that is already in the living room sofa and inspired by the spring that is comming, I made a little bunny from an old tshirt following this tutorial and I think Sabina really likes it, because she is squeezing and sucking it every time she had it in her hands.

hoy domingo nos hemos levantado tarde... y espero que volvamos pronto a la cama...

This Sunday we woke up late ... and hopefully we'll  back to bed soon...

between naps

ya he vuelto a mi trabajo, y ha sido muy difícil dejar a Sabina mientras yo voy a la oficina... (hubo lágrimas en mis ojos en los primeros días)

en casa el tiempo pasa volando, especialmente si tienes una bebita y miles de cosas por hacer, pero entre sus siestas y siempre en compañía de mis chuchos poco a poco voy teniendo algunos avances...

Hace unos días hice esta blusa que terminó siendo un proyecto muy satisfactorio, pues se convirtió en la primer ropa que hago para Sabina. El patrón es Ella Raglan Blouse y aunque lo hice en talla para 9 meses, por ahora Sabina, quien apenas va a cumplir 4 meses,  lo usa perfecto como vestido.

I'm back to my job, and it was very difficult leave Sabina while I go to the office... (there was tears in my face at the first days)

the time at home flies, especially if you have a baby and many things to do, but between naps and always with my loved dogs around me, am slowly taking some progress...

a few days ago I made this blouse that ended up being a very successful project to me, because it became the first clothes I made for Sabina. The pattern is The Ella Raglan Blouse and although I made it in size for 9 months, Sabina, who will soon be 4 months old, is wearing it as a dress...

y estoy en proceso de hacer más, ya pronto se los mostraré!

and I'm making more of them, I hope I can show them soon!
