March sunday

nuestro primer domingo de marzo luce bien, el clima aún está fresco pero se comienza a sentir que pronto buscaremos las sandalias que hemos olvidado desde hace tiempo... nuestro jardín está cambiando y los árboles ya presentan las primeras flores y hojas tiernas... our first sunday March looks great, the weather is still fresh but it feels like you will look soon for the sandals we've forgotten for a long time... our garden is changing and the trees are in the first flowers and young leaves...

y marzo es perfecto para iniciar nuevos proyectos, tal vez uno portable, para hacerlo sentada en el porche mientras se escuchan ya los pájaros alrededor... and march is perfect to starting new proyects, maybe one portable, to make it while i'm sitting on the porch listening the birds around...

Mi hermana tuvo la idea de las frases, plasmó los diseños en tela y ella misma los bordó... My sister had the quotes idea, she did the desings on fabric and she made the embrodery work... yo sólo tomé los bordados (ella me los regaló!) y con ellos hice estos cojines... te gustan? I just took the embroidery (she gave them to me!) and with them I made these cushions... do you like them?

some news

Desde ayer hay dos máquinas de coser en mi casa... y es que ayer estuvieron aquí mi mamá y Verónica! la pasamos super bien, cosiendo, platicando, riendo, escuchando música y como siempre la tarde fue demasiado corta!

Since yesterday there are two sewing machines in my house ... and is that becose my mom and Verónica were here yesterday! we spent good time together, sewing, chatting, laughing, listening music and as always the evening was too short!

mi hermana es pintora y está iniciando una serie de diseños para bordar.... he estado viendo algo de ese proceso y sólo puedo decir que sus dibujos son muuuy lindos, verdaderamente dan ganas de bordarlos... ya les comentaré cómo va eso ... aquí les muestro una probadita:

my sister is an artist and she's initiating a series of designs for embroidery .... I've been watching some of that process and i can only say that her drawings are sooo cute, really makes you want to stitch them ... I'll tell you how that goes ... here I show a little bit of that work:

Friday afternoon

Ayer estuvo mi hermana en mi casa. Pasamos una tarde agradable, ella dibujó un diseño para bordar en una camineta y nos pusimos a bordar... la tarde se pasa rápido cuando haces algo que te gusta y más si estás en buena compañía...

Yesterday, my sister was here. We spend a great afternoon, she draw a embroidery desing for a t-shirt and we started to embroidery... the afternoon passes quickly when you are doing something you like and specially if you're in good company ...

Hacía mucho que no la usaba. Esta falda la compré usada, en un bazar callejero hace un poco más de 8 años y todavía me encanta. Me gusta el color gris y el bordado en tonos morados.
Aunque no es una prenda para verano, hoy tuvimos una mañana nublada, así que mi falda fue perfecta para la oficina.

It had long since i wear it. This skirt i bought it used in a street bazaar over 8 years and i still love it. I like the gray color and embroidery in purple shades. Although not a cloth for summer, today we had a cloudy morning, so my dress was perfect for the office.

Es un pequeño notebook para traer en el bolso. Confieso que algo me salió mal con las medidas, porque tuve que recortar un poco la cubierta del cuaderno para ajustarlo a la cubierta de tela. A little notebook to bring in the handbag. I confess that something went wrong with the measures, because I had to trim a little the cover of the book to fit in the fabric cover.

La semana pasada terminé este pequeño bordado y decidí hacer un doll quilt con él. Será para Natalia, una hermosa bebé que nació la semana pasada.

Last week i finished this little embroidery and i decided make a doll quilt with it. Will be for Natalia, a beautiful baby who was born last week.

bordando y recordando / embroidery and remembering

La semana pasada compré un par de plumas para transferir con plancha... desde entonces he buscado algún diseño para probarlas y bordar alguna cosilla... encontré muchos, como para hacer una lista, pues son hermosos!!! Last week i bought a pair of iron on transfer pen... since then i searched a design to try to embroidery a few thing... I found many like to make a list because all of them are beautiful!

Sólo que mmm.... no sé bordar...but.... mmm I don't know embroidery ...

Recuerdo que cuando era niña en la primaria hice una servilleta para las tortillas y tenía algunas estrellas bordadas... era algo muy simple, pero creo que mi mamá terminó de hacerlo y se hizo la sorprendida en el 10 de mayo en que se la regalé, hahahahaha, eso me hizo recordar que cuando volteabas la servilleta podías darte cuenta qué parte había bordado ella y cuál la había bordado yo.I remember when i was a child, in elementary school, I did a tortillas napkin and had some embroidered stars ... was something very simple, but I think my mom ended up doing and she was surprised at the mothers day i give it to her for a gift, hahahahaha, that made me remember that when you flip the napkin you could know how much she had embroidered, and what i had embroidered.

En fin, ese fue mi primer acercamiento con la bordada y el último había sido una etiqueta para un quilt que le hice a mi marido. Sólo decía su nombre y un corazón. Anyway, that was my first contact with the embroidery and the last was a label for a quilt i made for my hubby. Just saying his name and a heart.

Pues bueno, ayer elegí un diseño sencillo que encontré aquí... catarinas... son lindas, verdad? pues ayer mismo probé mi pluma nueva sobre un trozo de manta y funcionó perfectamente, así que comencé a bordar un poco y esto es lo que va: Well, yesterday i chose a simple design that i found here ... laidy bugs ... are cute, right? and yesterday i tried my new pen on a piece of cotton fabric and it worked perfectly, so i started to embroider a little and this is the progress:
