la semana pasada el cartero me trajo un paquete y con él me llegó mucho cariño y un montón de cosas hermosas que hizo mi querida amiga Chase... algunas para mí y otras para el bebé que viene en camino... aquí les comparto lo que recibí...

...lo primero que vi fue un hermoso baby quilt! qué sorpresa más linda! me encantan las telas que usó y el fondo azul... ella hizo un maravilloso trabajo con el acolchado y me encanta el detalle del bies... ...the first think I saw was a gorgeous baby quilt! such wonderful surprise! love the fabrics she used and the blue background... she made a wonderful job with the quilting and I really like the scrappy detail in the bies...

así como dos lindísimos mini quilts, que serán los compañeros del te o café de la tarde... me encanta el trabajo del patchwork y sobretodo el acholchado a mano...

esta semana el correo me trajo un montón de cariño y de cosas lindas que les quiero compartir... El mes pasado tuve un intercambio organizado por Anna... así que hice y le envié una bolsa, té y algunas cositas más a Carmen.... y esta semana recibí una linda y útil bolsa de red que Mary me envió junto con una deliciosa dotación de té y chocolates... gracias Mary, no he podido parar de comer esos ricos Ghirardelli!!

This week the mail brought me a lot of love and beautiful things that I want to share here ... Last month I participated in a swap organized by Anna... I sent to Carmen a handmade grocery bag, tea and some more things.... and this week I received a beautiful and useful net bag that Mary sent me along with delicious tea and chocolates ... Thanks so much Mary, I can't stop to eat those delicious Ghirardelli!

unos días después y de forma inesperada llegó un paquete lleno de cariño y con una linda pila de telas que Karen me envió, gracias amiga, fue una sorpresa super linda y esas telitas tendrán un buen uso! some days later and unexpectedly I got a package full of love and with a lovely pile of fabrics that Karen sent me! thanks a lot my friend, it was a beautiful surprise and those great fabrics will have a good use!

terminé otro mini quilt... tiene cuatro pequeños bloques de log cabin, esta vez con colores frescos y diseños modernos... mide aproximadamente 10.75".   

I finished another mini quilt... four small log cabin blocks, this time using fresh colors and modern prints... it measures aprox. 10.75" square.

qué tal va tu sábado? esta vez me levanté un poco más tarde de lo normal y después de mi amado café creo que ya estoy lista para seguir mi día... tienes planes? yo no, aquí todo luce tranquilo y con un clima de otoño perfecto, así que lo que sea que venga, yo estoy bien con ello!

how is going your Saturday?  I woke up a little later than usual today but  after my very loved coffee I think I'm ready to catch my day ... have you plans?  I'm not, but everything looks peaceful here with a perfect fall weather, so whatever is comming I'm fine with it!

lately

empezando el mes con una nueva planta en mi ventana, cocinando calabaza dulce y con nuevos proyectos que me han mantenido ocupada estos días, pues en diciembre participaré en un bazar, será mi primera vez y me emociona mucho la idea, así que estoy trabajando a tope en mi estudio...

ven ese hermoso botón de plata? es un bellísimo collar que compré en TheAngryWeather, una de mis tiendas favoritas de Etsy... no lo he dejado de usar y como ven no resistí coserle un poco.. llegó además con una tela super linda que mi querida amiga Iveth me envió como regalo... qué buena suerte! 

starting a new month...  with a new succulent plant in my window, cooking pumpkin and having new projects that kept me busy these days, because I'll participate in a handmade bazar in december, it will be my first time and I'm very exciting about it! so I'm working a lot in my sewing room... 

do you see that beautiful silver button? is a gorgeous necklace I bought in TheAngryWeather, one of my favorites Etsy shops... I've been use it every day and as you can see I couldn't resist sew a little on it.. my lovely friend Iveth sended to me also with a beautiful piece of fabric as a gift... lucky me!

mi fin de semana fue muy tranquilo... aparte de hacer una visita de familia, la mayor parte del tiempo la pasé cosiendo, tomando limonada y probablemente comiendo de más...

mine was very quiet... apart from visiting family I spent most of it sewing, drinking lemonade and probably eating too much...

...además, el cartero me trajo una linda sorpresa al entregarme un paquete de Canadá... eran unos hermosos aretes que hizo mi querida amiga Iveth, de la tienda Angry Weather, y los gané en un sorteo del blog heartmade.... son chidísimos y estoy tan feliz con ellos que no pude evitar tomarme una foto para mostrárselos ;) perdón por este episodio de vanidad, pero es de esas veces que alguien que está muy muy lejos hace algo lindo para tí y simplemente te dibuja una sonrisa... gracias Iveth!

Lately

aunque estoy de vacaciones no he dejado de levantarme temprano, pero cada mañana paso un rato en piyama con café en mano, mientras todo está en silencio, simplemente viendo cómo amaneció, sin hacer nada, sólo mi café y yo... a veces pensando en lo que haré en el día o en lo que me gustaría hacer, como cuando veo el corazón que Nadine me envió y que me hace querer aprender a tejer...  cómo disfruto ese momento del día...!       I'm on vacation but I've been wake up early every morning, like usual, but I take some time in my pajamas with coffee in hand, when everything is quiet,  just seeing the morning, doing nothing, a little moment for my coffee and me, sometimes just thinking about what I'll do in the day or thinking about what I'd want to do, like when I see the cute heart that Nadine sent me and makes me want to learn how to knit ... how I enjoy that part of day...!

y qué he estado haciendo estos días? pues como lo tenía planeado he pasado mucho tiempo en mi cuarto de costura, haciendo algunas bolsas, eligiendo telas para unos nuevos proyectos, planchando, viendo libros de quilts, cortando telas, cosiendo, pero siempre con la compañía de Lucio...         and what I've been doing last days? well, as my plan I'm having a lot of time in my sewing room, making bags, choosing fabric for more proyects, ironing, enjoying quilting books, cutting fabrics, sewing and always with my sweet Lucio close to me... 

a veces pienso que me gustan cosas aburridas... será? seguro que para algunos sí, pero no me importa!  sometimes I think I like boring things...is that true? oh yep, maybe for somebody it is boring, but I really dont care!

 y qué tal está siendo el verano para tí? estás trabajando o de vacaciones? cómo disfrutas tu tiempo libre? and how is going the summer for you? are you working or having vacation? how do you spend your free time?

Hola!! se suponía que este sería un post de lunes, pero ayer las cosas se pusieron un poco complicadas en mi trabajo y no tuve mucha oportunidad de sentarme con calma a escribir... espero que todos hayan tenido un buen fin de semana! aquí el calor cada día aumenta más y aunque disfruto usar sandalias, la cerveza helada y ver flores por todos lados, también me hace añorar días de lluvia... Hello! it supossed it would be a Monday post, but things got a bit complicated in my work yesterday and I didn't have much time to sit calmly to write... I hope everyone had a good weekend! here the heat every day grows more and although I enjoy wearing sandals, drink cold beer and see flowers everywhere, it also makes me want rainy days ...

Hace unos días comencé un nuevo proyecto de quilt en el que estoy usando unos jelly rolls que compré hace tiempo y combinándolos con tela color morado... los colores me encantan pero me hacen sentir un poco fuera de mi zona de confort... desde hace tiempo quería hacer algo con esas telas, pero no encontraba el proyecto ideal y siempre tengo temor de echar a perder las telas... así que ya veremos qué sale, pero por lo pronto me pone de buenas trabajar con colores diferentes a los que habitualmente uso en mis quilts... A few days ago I started a new quilt project that I'm using jelly rolls that I bought some time ago and with a combination with purple fabric... I must to say that I love the colors but at the same I feel a little out of my comfort zone... and so many time ago I wanted to do something with them, but I couldn't find the perfect project and I'm always afraid of wasting fabric... so we'll see what comes out, but meanwhile, work with differents colors from those that I commonly used in quilts, is putting me in a very good mood...

sí, a mí me encantan, pero la verdad es que el almuerzo o "lunch" no es algo que acostumbramos mucho en casa, pues a esa hora Alex y yo no estamos juntos... sin embargo, en fines de semana es más fácil tenerlo y para mí siempre será más rico si se prepara en casa, pero sobretodo cuando él se encarga de esa labor... en el asador...! yes i love them, but the truth is that lunch is not something we have a lot at home because at that time of the day Alex and I are not together... however, some weekends are easier to get it and always it will be more delicious to me if it was made at home, but especially when he is in charge of that work ... on the grill ...!

Creo que este tema fue muy previsible para mí, pues cualquiera que me visite ha de saber que mis tres perros y mi gata son mis "cuatro patas" favoritos. I believe this theme was very predictable to me, for anyone who visit me already know that my three dogs and my cat are my fours favorites.

Lucio no la ha pasado bien las últimas semanas. Duró más de 15 días con collar isabelino además de verse limitado para salir al jardín con los demás y correr y brincar libremente. Sus heridas ya sanaron pero su lesión en la pata continúa y esta semana volverá a visitar al médico. Es un buen perro. Es un dulce perro al que todos los que no lo conocen le temen porque no saben que él lo único que quiere es jugar, meterse a la fuente y lamerte la cara...    muchas gracias a todos los que han preguntado por su salud, él les manda a todos muchos besos mojados!        Lucio, has not great time in recent weeks. Lasted over 15 days with Elizabethan Collar as well as being limited to go into the garden with his buddies to run and jump freely. His wounds have healed but his injury to his leg continues and this week he'll visit the doctor again. He is a good dog. He's a sweet dog that all who don't knows him feels fear because they don't know that all he wants is play, get a shower at the fountain and lick your face ... thank you very much too all of you who asked me about his health, he sends many wet kisses to all!

Madera. Qué grandioso material natural para trabajar! acaso no todos tenemos algo de madera en casa? Wood. Such great natural material to work with!! I'm sure we all have something made of wood at home!

me encantó la idea de que el tema de hoy fuera este, pues Alex ha encontrado en el trabajo con madera un nuevo hobby, oficio o forma de crear.... y usando desde los troncos que encontramos en el bosque, de algunos árboles que tuvieron que ser derribados o que se cayeron por las tormentas del año pasado o la madera de pallets usados, él ha estado aprendiendo y disfrutando la carpintería...

I love the idea of the theme for today, because Alex has been found in the woodwork a new hobby, a way to create and be creative.... he is using logs found in the forest, wood from some trees that had to be torn down or fell down because the last year's storms until used pallets, but for sure, he's learning and enjoying all the woodwork process...

Al igual que me sucede cuando trabajo en mi cuarto de costura o en la cocina, esa sensación que viene después de hacer algo con tus manos, algo para alguien especial o para tí, es única y te empuja a seguir creando y probando y me encanta que ahora Alex lo tenga cuando ve las cosas que ha hecho....

like happens to me when I work on my sewing room or at the kitchen, that feeling that comes after doing something with your hands, something for someone special or for you, is unique and pushes you to continue doing it and I love that Alex has that feeling too, when he sees the things he has done ....

no tengo una respuesta mágica, pues tiempo libre es algo a veces difícil de conseguir, pero definitivamente apagar la TV ayuda.

Nosotros pasamos mucho tiempo en nuestra pequeña cocina, así que esta vez cv será de comida, de algo que preparo constantemente, el guacamole, que aunque me encanta y lo puedo comer todo el año, definitivamente creo que los meses cálidos se prestan más para su fresco sabor... aquí les comparto mi versión, en tiempo para los próximos días de primavera.... we spend many time at our small kitchen, so this time is about something I make a lot: guacamole, and I have to say even when I love it and I can eat it all the year, I think warm months are the best time to enjoy it's fresh taste... so I share my version here, just in time for the spring days that are comming...

necesitas:

3-4 aguacates maduros

1/4 de una cebolla morada picada

2 pepinos pequeños picados en cuadros pequeños

jugo de uno 1 o 2 limones (fresco)

sal y pimienta

what you need:

3-4 avocados

1/4 purple onion (fine chopped )

2 small cucumbers (fine chopped)

the juice of 1-2 lemons (fresh)

salt and fresh ground black pepper

El aguacate se saca de la cáscara con una cuchara y se mezcla con todos los ingredientes, cuidando de incorporar con cuidado para que no quede hecho puré... prueba el sazón y listo! The avocado pulp are removed from the shell with a spoon and mix it with all ingredients, taking care while incorporate to not make puree, check the seasoning and it's done!

Existen muchos artistas talentosos, algunos con más reconocimiento que otros, pero al brindarnos su obra pueden provocar, sólo con contemplarlos, con escucharlos, leerlos, diversos sentimientos que hacen que uno senta que se desbordan de nuestro cuerpo. Pintura, escultura, música, danza, escritura... es difícil para mí tener un favorito... sin embargo, al pensar en ello vino a mi mente mi poeta favorito: Jaime Sabines.

There are many talented artists, some with more recognition than others, but all they give us theire work and can make only by contemplate, listen or read, different feelings that make you feel that your body is overflowing. Painting, sculpture, music, dance, writing ... is difficult for me to have a favorite ... however,  thinking about it came to my mind my favorite poet, Jaime Sabines.

qué es orgánico? lo que crece de forma natural? una certificación, comida más cara? buena salud? un estilo de vida? un negocio creciente y exitoso de los últimos años? no lo se, pero por momentos me parece un poco de todo eso... mientras tanto, elijo intentar cada vez más por mi cuenta, las opciones naturales que tengo y contemplar las formas orgánicas, que me maravillan...

Tenemos un invierno amable que no nos trata mal aquí, no  hay nieve ni temperaturas extremas, con un sol que aunque no calienta nos alegra los fines de semana, viento seco, tardes cortas, mañanas y noches frías sin calefacción... me dan motivos para pasar más tiempo en casa, arropada con los quilts que hago durante el año, cosiendo y planeando otros más...

We have a nice winter here that it is not  bad with us, there is no snow or extreme temperatures, we have a sun that warms a little but cheer us at weekends, dry winds with short evenings, mornings and cold nights in home without heater...  all that give me more reasons to spend time at home, wrapped in quilts that I made during the year, sewing and planning make more quilts...
