Hace unos días me puse a limpiar el armario en donde guardo mis telas para tener orden en el cuarto de costura... tanta tela y tan poco tiempo para coserlas! así que decidí poner algunas de ellas en venta.. así que son más que bienvenidas a mi tienda Etsy para echar un vistazo... estas son algunas de las linduras que se pueden encontrar ahí ...

pink inspiration

Fue divertido mezclar nn montón de telas color rosa y algunas en amarillo, especialmente porque el rosa no es una de mis primeras elecciones cuando se trata de telas, pero quería hacer algo con mucho color, que fuera brillante y "girly", y así fue como un miniquilt inspirado en limonada de fresa vino a mi mente.

It was very fun to mix a lot of pink and some yellow fabrics, especially because pink is not one of my first choices when it comes to fabrics, but I wanted to make something with lots of color, bright and "girly", and it was as a miniquilt inspired strawberry lemonade came in to my mind.

Definitivamente los miniquilts son una de mis cosas favoritas de hacer: se hacen rápido, puedes usar muchas telas sin necesidad de gastar mucho y los puedes usar a diario como un tapete para tu taza de café o simplemente admirarlos si los cuelgas en una pared.

Miniquilts are definitely one of my favorite things to make: they finished faster, you can use many fabrics without spending so much and they can be used daily as a mat for your cup of coffee or just to admire them if you hang on a wall.

Blusa/Blouse: 260 Ella Blouse

Pantalón/ Pants: 238 Christine Pants

Hice otra blusa para Sabina pero esta vez decidí complementarla con un pantalón. Fue mi primera vez haciendo un pantalón y aunque tuve algunos errores, al final no se notan porque lleva elástico en la cintura. La blusa es talla 12 meses que a una nena de 6 le queda bien como vestido corto y conforme vaya creciendo le quedará como blusa. La hice con una tela estampada que tenía guardada, tiene unas flores pequeñitas que en cuanto la vi me pareció perfecta y le hice una sencilla aplicación con hexágonos, que creo que le da un toque divertido.

I made another blouse to Sabina but this time I decided to supplement with pants. It was my first time doing pants and although I made some mistakes at the end they aren't very noticeable because the elastic at the waist. The blouse is size 12 months and for a six months baby it looks good as a short dress and as she grows it will look like a  blouse. I made it with a fabric that I had in my stash, it has those lovely tiny flowers and when I saw it I thought it would be perfect for this. This time I made a simple application with hexagons, which I think it gives a fun twist.

thank you very much your comments and emails about my previous post. Alex came to home safely and fortunately the fire was controlled. Although a hudge area was devastated by fire, nobody was hurt and also was great to see the solidarity and the amazing support between neighbors...

Bright spring

 

Telas nuevas, pañales de tela y muchos proyectos que incluyen ropa para Sabina. 

Apenas cumplimos un mes desde que dejamos de usar pañales desechables y verdaderamente estamos felices con esa decisión, pues usar los de tela es más sencillo de lo que parece, así que además de ahorrarnos algo de dinero, el trasero de Sabina no está sentado en plásticos todo el tiempo. 

Comencé jugando con pequeños retazos de tela a hacer corazones y terminó siendo un miniquilt, y estoy pensando en hacer un pequeño tutorial. No he tenido mucho tiempo para hacer proyectos grandes o empezar un nuevo quilt (de lo que muero de ganas, por cierto), pero hacer ropa para Sabina me resulta muy satisfactorio y divertido. Hice un par de blusas más como esta y terminé un vestido que será regalo para la hija de unos amigos. Usé este patrón, fue bastante sencillo y luce super bonito.

Pensando en que ya pronto empezará con los alimentos sólidos y en sus actividades una vez que empiece a caminar, le hice a Sabina un chaleco/delantal que creo que le lucirá bien sobre un pañalero y a juego con unos bloomers. Hice unos cuantos más y ya están en mi tienda, por si quieren echarles un vistazo.   

Espero que el fin de semana me rinda un poco más y pueda pasar algo tiempo en mi cuarto de costura... ya veremos...

New fabric, cloth diapers and many projects including Sabina clothing. 
A month ago we stopped to use disposable diapers and we are truly happy with that decision, using cloth diapers is easier than it seems, so in addition to save some money, the little butt of my baby girl is not sitting on plastic all day.

I was playing with fabric scraps to make hearts and I made a miniquilt, also I'm thinking of doing a small tutorial about it. I haven't much time for big projects or to start a new quilt (can't wait to start another one, by the way), but make clothes for Sabina is very satisfying and fun to me. I made a couple of blouses like this one and a dress that will be a gift for the daughter of our friends. I used this pattern, it was pretty simple but looks really beautiful.

Thinking that my girl will soon begin with solid foods and activities once she starts to walk, I made a bib/apron that also I think it'll look lovely as a top on a onesie and matching with bloomers. I made a few more and they are in my shop already, if you want to take a look.

I hope can spend some time at my sewing room this weekend... we'll see....

work in progress

ha pasado tanto tiempo que realmente no recuerdo cuándo comencé a hacer este quilt. Escogí las telas, las corté y cosí los triángulos en pocos días, pero después de planchar las costuras, estuvieron apilados en uno de mis armarios durante muchos meses...  hasta semana que decidí sacarlos y comenzar a dar forma a un nuevo quilt...

No se si el fin de semana me alcance para poder terminar aunque sea el top, pero verlos en mi pared definitivamente me motiva a intentarlo!

has been so long that I really ca'nt remember when I started making this quilt. I chose fabrics, cut and sewed the triangles in just a few days, but after ironing the seams, they were stacked in one of my cabinets for many months ... until this week that I decided to take them and put them in the way to be a quilt...

I dont know if the weekend will be enough to finish the top, but seeing them on my wall definitely motivates me to try it!

Floral zigzag

Este es el primer quilt que termino en 2012. Este año mi productividad no está en sus mejores números, pero me pone contenta al menos ya tener concluído este, pues desde hace tiempo tenía ganas de usar esas lindas telas.... This is the my first quilt finished in 2012. I know my productivity hasn't great numbers this year, but I'm happy at least have done this one, and finally I could use these beautiful fabrics....

Para hacerlo me guié con el patrón "Patchwork Chevron Quilt" de Jeni y puedes encontrar el tutorial gratis aquí. Realmente fue divertido hacerlo!  I used Jenni's pattern "Patchwork Quilt Chevron" and you can find the free tutorial here. It was a very fun proyect to do!

Para la parte de atrás usé diferentes telas haciendo un log cabin enorme.... For the back I used diferent fabrics to make a big Log Cabin...

y ahora vuelvo a la máquina de coser...!

and now I'm back to the sewing machine!

something fresh

Hice estos sachets de lavanda con flores que hace unas semanas corté del jardín y retazos de sábanas. Es algo super simple de hacer, pero que logra darle al armario de los blancos una deliciosa fragancia y hace que el aroma brote cada vez que saco una toalla de ahí... y creo que necesitaré hacer unos cuantos más...

I made these lavender sachets with flowers  that I cut from our garden a few weeks ago and some scraps of vintage sheets. There are sooo easy to make, and it does give to my linen closet a delicious fragrance and the aroma came out every time I take a towel from there... and I think I'll need to make more of those...

on the road again...

Pasaron dos semanas y apenas toqué mi máquina de coser. Hacía mucho que no sucedía eso y creo que en esos momentos sólo no hay que presionarse en trabajar, pues aunque tuve días pesados en la oficina también tuve algunos momentos libres en que pude haberme puesto a coser y no lo hice, pero finalmente este fin de semana volvimos a la costureada. Aunque tengo ya un quilt en proceso, decidí empezar otro, pero esta vez usando telas femeninas y con muchas flores, perfectas para la primavera... Two weeks passed and I barely touched my sewing machine, but finally I returned to the sewing area this weekend. Although I have a quilt in progress, I decided to start another one, but this time using feminine fabrics with many flowers, just perfect for spring...

Es algo sencillo, así que espero esta semana tener el tiempo suficiente para terminarlo... It is really simply so I hope to have enough free time to finish it this week...

esta semana el correo me trajo un montón de cariño y de cosas lindas que les quiero compartir... El mes pasado tuve un intercambio organizado por Anna... así que hice y le envié una bolsa, té y algunas cositas más a Carmen.... y esta semana recibí una linda y útil bolsa de red que Mary me envió junto con una deliciosa dotación de té y chocolates... gracias Mary, no he podido parar de comer esos ricos Ghirardelli!!

This week the mail brought me a lot of love and beautiful things that I want to share here ... Last month I participated in a swap organized by Anna... I sent to Carmen a handmade grocery bag, tea and some more things.... and this week I received a beautiful and useful net bag that Mary sent me along with delicious tea and chocolates ... Thanks so much Mary, I can't stop to eat those delicious Ghirardelli!

unos días después y de forma inesperada llegó un paquete lleno de cariño y con una linda pila de telas que Karen me envió, gracias amiga, fue una sorpresa super linda y esas telitas tendrán un buen uso! some days later and unexpectedly I got a package full of love and with a lovely pile of fabrics that Karen sent me! thanks a lot my friend, it was a beautiful surprise and those great fabrics will have a good use!

worth the wait

Terminé este quilt hace un par de semanas. Creo que comencé a coser los bloques desde hace dos años y todo este tiempo estuvo esperando por mí o por la personita para la que finalmente será, ya que fue el regalo que le di a una amiga en su baby shower... esta vez usé algunas tiras precortadas de 1.5 " y tela en dolor sólido de lino/algodón.

Aunque me pone contenta terminar un proyecto, también me alegra haber esperado para hacerlo, pues terminó siendo un lindo quilt para una bebé, algo que no estaba en el plan original...

I finished this quilt a couple of weeks ago. I think I started to sew the blocks two years ago and all this time it was waiting for me or for the little one that it will be, as it was the gift I gave to a friend at her baby shower ... this time I used 1.5" precut strips and linen/cotton fabric (solids). 

I'm happy to finish a proyect but at the end I'm glad I waited to do it too, because it turned in a lovely quilt for a baby girl, and that wasn't in the original plan...

He estado trabajando en esto y aquéllo en mi cuarto de costura, el fin de semana fue bastante tranquilo aquí, con un montón de tiempo libre y aunque no terminé muchas cosas, me encanta la sensación de trabajar sin presión, simplemente disfrutando del proceso de creación...

I've been working with this and that at the sewing room, the weekend was paceful here with lots of free time and althought i didn't finish many things, I love work without pressure, just enjoying the creating process...

keep it simple

Estuve jugando nuevamente con estos coloridos tejidos y un poco de lino. El resultado lo pueden llamar mini quilts, tapetes para la taza o portavasos gigantes, creo que el nombre no importa realmenteme. Disfruto mucho mientras hago estas pequeñas cosas y me gusta mucho cómo luce el acolchado sobre el contraste de colores. I've been playing with these colorful fabrics and some blue linen again. You can called them mini quilts, mug rugs or giant coasters, the name doesn't matter. I enjoy so much making these little things and I really like how looks those stiches on the contrasting colors.

El azul con mostaza estará bajo mi taza de café durante mis tardes de costura... El de colores decidí ponerlo en mi tienda para que alguien más disfrute de un poco de color.
The blue and mustard will be under my cup of coffee during my sewing afternoon... I decided to put it in my shop the colorful one and let to somebody else can enjoy a little bit  of color.

ya casi es fin de semana y eso es suficiente para tener buen humor, aunque no se tenga planes aún...! it's almost weekend and that is enough to be in the very good mood, even if you haven't plans for those days yet...!

at the sewing room

desde hace tiempo tengo ganas de hacer un quilt con telas en color rojo y por una cosa u otra no me decidía a hacerlo o se me atravesaban proyectos diferentes, pero hace unos días comencé a cortar triángulos de diferentes telas en rojo. Aún no tengo bien definido el camino que seguirán, pero se me antoja para combinarlos con un gris claro, así que con un tiempito más  veremos que sale de ahí... since long time ago I wanted to make a quilt with fabrics in red and for one thing or another  I didn't decided to do it or I went through different projects, but I started to cut half square triangles of different fabrics in red  a few days ago. I haven't clearly defined the way to follow with them yet, but I like the idea to use fabric in light grey as well, so in the time, we'll see what is coming out of there ...

también hace unos días recibí un enorme paquete de telas japonesas que compré hace tiempo, son una mezcla de algodón/lino,  y aunque tardaron mucho en llegar (5 meses!), como pueden ver, la espera valió la pena... algunos me gustan para hacerme una falda aunque todavía me siento temerosa de coser ropa, y también tengo ganas de un quilt en tonos neutros y creo que lucen perfecto para ello... pero por lo pronto me pone feliz ver esa pila de hermosos tejidos aquí... Also last week I received a huge package with Japanese fabrics I bought time ago, they are a cotton/linen blend, and although this time the mail took a long time to come (5 months!), as you can see, it worth all the wait...  I was thinking to make me a skirt with some of them, although I still afraid to sew clothing... and also like the idea to make a quilt with neutral colors too and I think they could be perfect for it...  for now just makes me happy to see that pile of beautiful fabrics here ...

ps. por alguna extraña razón pude volver a cargar mis fotos normalmente, no se qué estuvo mal, pero gracias a quienes pasaron y comentaron sobre ello... sólo decidí eliminar el post anterior, porque me parecía absurdo mantener una foto que no lucía bien!

lately

no he cosido mucho estos días, más bien la he pasado ordenando el caos que comenzaba a verse en mi cuarto de costura: quitando polvo, acomodando telas, ordenando espacios... nuevos quilts comienzan a tomar forma en mi mente, hay muchos colores y telas por elegir otra vez... como todo, sólo será cuestión de tiempo....
I haven't sewn so much these days, I spent the time ordering the chaos in my sewing room: dusting, arranging fabrics, ordering spaces ... I have new quilts to create in my mind,  many colors and fabrics to choose once again... as everything is just matter of time...
