usando una simple serie de luces, un viejo florero, ahora tengo una nueva iluminación en la ventana de mi cocina... using simply string lights, an old flower vase and now I have new lighting in my kitchen window...

El fin pasó rápido en casa pero me voy a la cama con una sensación de calma y olor de granola casera recién horneada... The weekend passed quickly at home but I go to bed with a great calm feeling and a delicious smell of freshly baked homemade granola...

the week

Las buganvilias aquí siguen en flor así que no desaproveché la oportunidad de alegrar de una forma barata, nuestra habitación. Esta semana experimenté una nueva receta usando calabaza, el pan quedó buenísimo, así que pronto la compartiré. Camila se recupera muy rápido y cada día se le ve más adaptada a su nuevo hogar y nosotros cada día la queremos más!

Casi no pude pasar tiempo en mi cuarto de costura estos días, pero al menos ya terminé el top de este quilt y sólo espera a ser acolchado...

La palabra LOVE de madera, la adquirí de esta tienda y algunos de los frascos azules en esta otra tienda, el cartero por fin las trajo esta semana... si visitan ambas tiendas se darán cuenta de que Alison y Ashley tienen cosas super lindas y que ellas son muy amables!

our bedroom without spend money. This week I tried a new recipe using pumpkin (or squash?), it was so good, so I'll share it soon. Camila is recovering very fast and every day she looks more adapted to her new home... and every day we love her more and more!

I almost could spend time in my sewing room last days, but at least I finished this quilt top and is just waiting to be quilted...

The wood LOVE word, I get it from this shop and some of those lovely vintage blue jars in this other shop, and the postman finally brought them to me this week ... if you visit both shops you'll see that Alison and Ashley have a lot of beautiful things there and both are such kind ladies!

not patchwork this time

he estado trabajando con estos tejidos y aunque al principio no sabía muy bien cómo utilizarlas, porque me detenía ese temor tonto de no hacerlo bien y hechar a perder las telas, terminé haciendo unos cojines para mi sala y me encantan. Como las telas son tan lindas sólo acolché la parte frontal de los cojines a cuadros y decidí que todos cerraran de la parte de atrás como sobre. Simples pero hermosos. Creo que haré un par más para ponerlos a la venta en mi tienda. Tal vez haya alguien además de mí que tambien le gusten los colores neutros.

I've been working with those wovens and at the beggining I don't knew how use them, because that stupid fear to don't do it good stopped me and I don't wanted to waste fabric, but finally I finished some pillows for my living room and I love them! Those wovens are fantastic so only was quilted the top of the plaids ones and I did an envelope clousure for all of them. Simple and beautiful. I think I'll make a few more to put on sale at my shop. Maybe there is somebody besides me that also likes neutral colors too.

De verdad estoy mostrando mi tabla de planchar?? :) bueno, después de hacer cosas como esta no se por qué me entran las ganas de mostrarlas a todo el mundo y el primero siempre suele ser Alex, a quien posiblemente no le importe cómo luce la tabla para planchar, pero siempre, me da su atención y me dice: "te quedó muy lindo"

Bueno, la verdad es que ya necesitaba cambiar la funda de mi tabla de planchar, por alguna razón la anterior ya estaba manchada y no ajustaba bien al tamaño, así que elegí una tela de falso patchwork (para disimular de buena forma cualquier manchita) y seguí las instrucciones que contiene el libro "Sewing in no time" de Emma Hardy y aunque planchar no es de mis actividades favoritas, al menos ahora es más lindo hacerlo!

I'm really showing my ironing board? :) Well, after doing things like this I don't know why I wanted to show them to the whole world and the first one always usually is Alex, who probably will not mind how the ironing board looks, but he always give me his atention and he says: "it looks great"
Well, the truth is that I needed to change the cover of my ironing board, for some reason it had spots and it didn't adjust well to the real size, so I chose a fake patchwork fabric (to hide nicely any spots) and I followed the instructions of Emma Hardy's book "Sewing in no time" and although ironing is not my favorite, at least it is prettier now!

Reutilizar: un objeto en tu casa al que le encontraste otro uso... Repurposed: one object in your house that you´ve found another use for...

En nuestra casa encuentras algunos objetos que ya no tienen su uso original, desde frascos de vidrio, tapas de plástico hasta ropa... y afortunadamente no tenemos ningún aparato de gimnasio fungiendo como perchero... In our house you can find some items that no have their original use, from glass bottles, plastic covers to clothing ... and fortunately we don't have gym equipment serving as a clothes hanger...

bueno, pues algunas de cosas las muestró aquí... en un rincón medio oculto de nuestra cocina puedes ver estos cajones que originalmente contenían de fruta y que se encuentran en cualquier mercado... pero que ahora contienen nuestras botellas de vino... well, some of those things I show you here... in some hidden corner of our kitchen you can see these boxes that were originally for transporting or storing fruit and can found them in any market ... but now contains our wine bottles...

en nuestro jardín, tengo algunos carretes vacíos de cable de electricidad, que ahora funcionan como bases para algunas de mis macetas: in our garden, I have some empty spools of electrical wire, which now they serves as bases for some of my herb pots:

El fin de semana pasado hice estos simples cojines para acompañar a este quilt. El primero lo hice con los retazos que me sobraron y un poco de tela en azul marino. En los dos siguientes además usé lino en azul. The last weekend I made these simple pillows to match with this quilt. The first one i did it using the leftovers and some navy fabric. For the others i also used linen in blue.

Lo encontramos mi papá y yo el pasado domingo en un bazar callejero. Necesita un poco de reparación, pero me encantó que es un mueble pequeño que va perfecto con nuestra pequeña casa. My dad and I found it in a street bazaar last sunday. It needs some repair, but I loved it because is a small furniture that goes perfectly with our small house.

me encantó el resultado, afortunadamente se quedan en mi casa :) pero tal vez podrían ser un regalo perfecto para aquéllos que celebran San Valentín... I loved the outcome, happily they stay in my house:) but perhaps they could be a perfect gift for those who celebrate Valentine's Day ...

Mi hermana tuvo la idea de las frases, plasmó los diseños en tela y ella misma los bordó... My sister had the quotes idea, she did the desings on fabric and she made the embrodery work... yo sólo tomé los bordados (ella me los regaló!) y con ellos hice estos cojines... te gustan? I just took the embroidery (she gave them to me!) and with them I made these cushions... do you like them?

log cabin pillows

Feliz mañana de lunes!! siguiendo con los tonos de otoño, este fin de semana hice estas fundas de cojines, la idea era sólo usar retazos y lo cumplí!! :) y aunque al principio no sabía muy bien cómo hacerlos me decidí por el log cabin, pues al final de todo es mi diseño de block favorito y yo no había hecho nada con él para nuestra casa.

Happy morning monday!! I went with the colors of autumn and this weekend i made these cushion covers, the idea was to use only sccraps and i did it! :) And although at first I was not sure how I make them, i decided to make the log cabin desing, is my favorite design block and I had not anything with it to our house.

y con algo de nervios y después de muuucho tiempo, intenté de nuevo con el free motion quilting... esta vez fue mejor, todavía me falta mucha práctica yo lo sé, pero esta vez no rompí ni una sola aguja ni salieron culebras y sapos a gritos de mi boca, por el contrario, fue una buena tarde de quilting! with a bit of nerves and after tooo much time, I tried again with the free motion quilting ... This time was better, I still haven't a lot of practice I know, but this time I don't broke a single needle and this time don't came screaming snakes and toads out of my mouth, by contrast, was a good afternoon of quilting!

y estos son mis nuevos mejores amigos para quilting. Son un regalo de mi mamá y aunque yo había usado antes los clásicos guantes de jardinería con hule, siempre me quedaban grandes (aquí sólo los venden unitalla).. pero ahora estos son como parte de mi mano y facilitaron muuucho mi trabajo!! and these are my new best friends for quilting. They are a gift from my mom and although I had used the classics gardening gloves before, but it's always fits large to me (here only sell one size fits all)... but now these are like part of my hand and facilitated tooo much my job!!

coffee sack pillows

Por lo pronto sólo hice 2 cojines de 23 x 23 pulgadas, con los costales de café. Debo decir a favor de este material que es bastante agradable al tacto, y aunque el tejido es algo rústico, no pica como pudiera parecer. For now I only did 2 pillows of 23 x 23 inches, with the sacks of coffee. I must say about this material is quite pleasant to the touch, and although the fabric is somewhat rustic, does not itchy as it seems.

Antes de cortar los sacos los lavé en la lavadora con un poco de detergente regular y ciclo normal. No usé suavizante de telas. Los puse a secar en la secadora y sólo me aseguré de que no quedaran ni un poco húmedos. Before cutting the bags I washed them in the washer with some regular detergent and normal cycle and I didn't used fabric softener, then they was dried in the dryer and just i made sure that there's not even a little wet.

Para cortarlos, comencé a recortar las costuras de los lados con unas tijeras, pero me di cuenta que era bastante complicado y, contrario a lo que creí, fue más fácil hacerlo con el rotary cutter, así que así quité las costuras, para quedarme sólo con la tela. To cut them, I started removing both sides the seams with scissors, but I realized that it was quite hard and, contrary to what I thought was easier to do with the rotary cutter, so i cut the seams, to stay only with the fabric.

Las fundas de los cojines los hice como cualquier otro, sólo usé velcro para cerrarlos por atrás. Si lo quieres intentar debes de saber que durante todo el proceso tu área de trabajo se convierte en un desastre no muy limpio... ooohhh sí!! pues el jute va soltando pequeños hilos y pelusa, así que tu mesa, tu ropa, tu máquina y la zona que te rodea incluyendo claro, el piso, terminan con partes de yute... The covers of the cushions I made like any other, just i used velcro to close the back. If you want to try it you should know that throughout the process in your work area becomes a disaster and not very clean ... ooohhh yes! during all the job the jute dropping little threads and lint, so your table, your clothes, your machine and the area around you, including clear, floor, could will be with parts of jute ...

Sin embargo, creo que vale la pena pasar esos momentos "desastrosos", reciclando este material que de verdad da una apariencia super chida, ahorrar algo de dinero y obtener estos objetos que agregan un toque especial a la decoración de la casa y jardín, además de que claro, son super prácticos y durables. However, I think that is worth spending the "disastrous" time by recycling this material that really gives a super cool appearance, save some money and get these items that add a special touch to the decoration of the house and garden, besides that of course, they are super practical and durable.

...por cierto, ayer hizo un día fantástico aquí, el cielo estuvo de un azul muy intenso y el clima templado, un poco de viento pero sin ser frío y el sol sin calentar demasiado y daban ganas de salir a caminar... será porque yo no puedo salir ahora? hahahahahaha suele suceder, que cuando no puedes hacer algo precisamente "eso" es lo que se te antoja... al menos puedo estar en el porche que de verdad y con este otoño, lo agradezco! ...by the way, yesterday was a fantastic day here, the blue sky was intense and we had a great weather: some wind but without being cold and the sun not too hot and i felt want to walk ... is it because I can not go now? hahahahahaha that happens, when you can not do anything, just "it" is what you feel like doing ... I can at least be on the porch that truth and in this autum, I appreciate it!
