Blusa/Blouse: 260 Ella Blouse

Pantalón/ Pants: 238 Christine Pants

Hice otra blusa para Sabina pero esta vez decidí complementarla con un pantalón. Fue mi primera vez haciendo un pantalón y aunque tuve algunos errores, al final no se notan porque lleva elástico en la cintura. La blusa es talla 12 meses que a una nena de 6 le queda bien como vestido corto y conforme vaya creciendo le quedará como blusa. La hice con una tela estampada que tenía guardada, tiene unas flores pequeñitas que en cuanto la vi me pareció perfecta y le hice una sencilla aplicación con hexágonos, que creo que le da un toque divertido.

I made another blouse to Sabina but this time I decided to supplement with pants. It was my first time doing pants and although I made some mistakes at the end they aren't very noticeable because the elastic at the waist. The blouse is size 12 months and for a six months baby it looks good as a short dress and as she grows it will look like a  blouse. I made it with a fabric that I had in my stash, it has those lovely tiny flowers and when I saw it I thought it would be perfect for this. This time I made a simple application with hexagons, which I think it gives a fun twist.

thank you very much your comments and emails about my previous post. Alex came to home safely and fortunately the fire was controlled. Although a hudge area was devastated by fire, nobody was hurt and also was great to see the solidarity and the amazing support between neighbors...

Un incendio comenzó ayer por la tarde en el bosque cerca de nuestra casa. Más de 24 horas y un montón de bomberos, brigadistas, voluntarios, vecinos y amigos no han parado de trabajar tratando de controlar el fuego. El viento no ha ayudado.... Alex está con ellos... Sabina los perros y yo estamos en casa, sin riesgo, sólo protegiéndonos del humo y esperando que Alex vuelva pronto y con la buena noticia de que todo está, por fin, bajo control...

A fire started yesterday afternoon in the woods close to our home. More than 24 hours and a lot of firefighters, rescuers, volunteers, neighbors and friends haven't stopped working trying to keep in control the fire. The wind didn't help .... and Alex is with them.... Sabina, the dogs and I are at home, without risk, keeping away from the smoke and waiting Alex back soon with the good news that everything is finally under control....

definitivamente no ha sido un buen domingo, pero espero que el de ustedes haya sido lo contrario! definitely it wasn't a good sunday, but I hope yours was just the opposite!

Fue un buen fin de semana. El tiempo que pasamos en casa estuvo rico, disfrutando de estar juntos y con cero prisas. Desde el viernes Sabina dejó de dormir con nosotros y aunque se sintió raro verla ya en su propia habitación también ha sido un buen cambio para ella, que se ve a gusto en su propio lugar y parece que su sueño no se ha afectado. Yo estoy feliz con tenerla, con escuchar sus sonidos, su risa, con verla descubrir colores y texturas, por su cada vez más creciente curiosidad por nuestros perros, que últimamente le provocan carcajadas... qué puedo decir, simplemente la adoro y agradezco cada momento que puedo pasar con ella...  

It was a great weekend. The time spent at home was good, enjoying being together and without any rush. Since last Friday Sabina isn't sleeping with us anymore and although it felt weird to see her in her own bedroom, it seems like is also a good change for her, she looks happy at her own place and her dream doesn't looks disturbed. I'm happy to have her, to hear her sounds, her laughter, to see how she discovers colors and textures, or her every day growing curiosity about our dogs, which sometimes made her laugh so hard... what can I say, I adore her and I appreciate every moment I can spend with her ...

Bright spring

 

Telas nuevas, pañales de tela y muchos proyectos que incluyen ropa para Sabina. 

Apenas cumplimos un mes desde que dejamos de usar pañales desechables y verdaderamente estamos felices con esa decisión, pues usar los de tela es más sencillo de lo que parece, así que además de ahorrarnos algo de dinero, el trasero de Sabina no está sentado en plásticos todo el tiempo. 

Comencé jugando con pequeños retazos de tela a hacer corazones y terminó siendo un miniquilt, y estoy pensando en hacer un pequeño tutorial. No he tenido mucho tiempo para hacer proyectos grandes o empezar un nuevo quilt (de lo que muero de ganas, por cierto), pero hacer ropa para Sabina me resulta muy satisfactorio y divertido. Hice un par de blusas más como esta y terminé un vestido que será regalo para la hija de unos amigos. Usé este patrón, fue bastante sencillo y luce super bonito.

Pensando en que ya pronto empezará con los alimentos sólidos y en sus actividades una vez que empiece a caminar, le hice a Sabina un chaleco/delantal que creo que le lucirá bien sobre un pañalero y a juego con unos bloomers. Hice unos cuantos más y ya están en mi tienda, por si quieren echarles un vistazo.   

Espero que el fin de semana me rinda un poco más y pueda pasar algo tiempo en mi cuarto de costura... ya veremos...

New fabric, cloth diapers and many projects including Sabina clothing. 
A month ago we stopped to use disposable diapers and we are truly happy with that decision, using cloth diapers is easier than it seems, so in addition to save some money, the little butt of my baby girl is not sitting on plastic all day.

I was playing with fabric scraps to make hearts and I made a miniquilt, also I'm thinking of doing a small tutorial about it. I haven't much time for big projects or to start a new quilt (can't wait to start another one, by the way), but make clothes for Sabina is very satisfying and fun to me. I made a couple of blouses like this one and a dress that will be a gift for the daughter of our friends. I used this pattern, it was pretty simple but looks really beautiful.

Thinking that my girl will soon begin with solid foods and activities once she starts to walk, I made a bib/apron that also I think it'll look lovely as a top on a onesie and matching with bloomers. I made a few more and they are in my shop already, if you want to take a look.

I hope can spend some time at my sewing room this weekend... we'll see....

warm days

una disculpa por la ausencia... he tenido días muy difíciles en mi trabajo, no se si es que aún no me adapto a mi rutina en la oficina después de estar casi 5 meses en casa o simplemente las cosas ahí se ha vuelto más pesadas de como estaban antes de mi incapacidad...

en casa, mi cuarto de costura debe estar lleno de polvo y telarañas pues hace semanas que no hago nada ahí... tengo planeado en estos días hacer limpieza y reorganizar las telas y mis cosas ahí, así que espero pronto de nuevo estar sentada frente a mi querida máquina de coser...

sin embargo no he desaprovechado la oportunidad de pasar tiempo con mi familia, ya sea en casa o fuera y el clima cálido que tenemos definitivamente se presta a para ello...

an apology for the absence ... I have had very difficult days in my work, I dont know if I didn't adapt to my office routine yet after being five months at home or just the things are crazier than before my maternity break..

at home, my sewing room should be filled with dust and cobwebs because I didnt make anything there in weeks... I have planned to clean and reorganize the fabrics and my stuff there for the next days, so hopefully I'll be sitting front to my beloved sewing machine soon...

however I haven't missed the opportunity to spend time with my family, whether at home or outside and the great warm weather we have here definitely is perfect for it...

Hello spring

Bienvenidos los días cálidos! aunque no es mi estación favorita, debo decir que este año he esperado por la primavera con mucho entusiasmo, pues la idea de que el clima estuviera un poco más calentito para no tener a Sabina abrigada y poder dejarle sus pequeños pies libres de calcetines me hacía querer que ya iniciara esta estación... hay flores por todos lados e incluso el sol ya nos hace buscar una sombra. 

Comenzamos a sembrar desde hace un mes y las camas de la huerta ya muestran signos de vida, así que parece que pasaremos mucho tiempo en el jardín...

Welcome warm days! Although isn't my favorite season, I must say that  I've waited for the spring time this year with great enthusiasm, because the idea of ​​have a warm weather that allows to have  Sabina without to many clothes and with her little feet  free of socks made me dream  with the start of the season  ... There are flowers everywhere and even the sun is makes us look for a shadow...

We started planting a month ago and the raised beds show signs of life already, so it seems like we'll  spend much time at the garden ...

Lately

 

Últimamente he pasado mi tiempo libre en la cocina y mi cuarto de costura, siempre acompañada de mi hermosa Sabina....Hice otra blusa, pero esta vez es un regalo para otra bebita (la hija de mi prima Marcy)... también empecé a hacer un móvil para la cuna de Sabina, usando fieltro y retazos de tela de algodón y espero poder terminarlo en unos días.... también por fin terminé un cojín que ya está en el sofá de la sala e inspirada en la primavera que ya se siente aquí, hice un pequeño conejo usando una vieja playera y siguiendo este tutorial y parece gustarle a Sabina, quien no deja de apretarlo y chuparlo cada vez que lo tiene entre sus manos.

Lately I've spent my free time at the kitchen and my sewing room, but always accompanied by my sweet Sabina.

I made another blouse, but this time it's a gift for another baby girl (my cousin's daugther) ... also this week I started to make a mobile for Sabina's nursery room, I used felt and cotton fabric scraps and hope I can finish it in a couple of days.... I finally completed a cushion that is already in the living room sofa and inspired by the spring that is comming, I made a little bunny from an old tshirt following this tutorial and I think Sabina really likes it, because she is squeezing and sucking it every time she had it in her hands.

hoy domingo nos hemos levantado tarde... y espero que volvamos pronto a la cama...

This Sunday we woke up late ... and hopefully we'll  back to bed soon...

Sabina's first quilt

Terminé este quilt antes de que Sabina naciera... pero quería tenerla conmigo para mostrárselos, porque un baby quilt es mucho más lindo si hay un bebé usándolo!

Before Sabina was born, I finished this quilt for her... but I wanted to have her with me to show them, just because a baby quilt looks so much lovely if there is a baby using it!

y hace unos días terminé otra blusa para ella...

and also I finished another blouse for her... 

Cuando empecé a hacer este quilt ya sabía que estaba esperando una niña, pero yo no estaba muy de ganas de usar telas en color rosa, así que me decidí  por los colores básicos con un fondo en color crema. Para hacer los bloques (que es el tradicional hourglass o reloj de arena), seguí este sencillo tutorial, con cuadros de 7". La parte de atrás la hice con retazos de las telas que usé al frente y me encantó tanto como el frente.

When I started making this quilt I knew I was expecting a girl, but I wasn't in the mood to choose pink fabrics, so I decided to use basic colors with a cream background. To make the blocks (which is the traditional hourglass), I followed this great tutorial, but with 7" squares. I made the back with the scraps from the fabrics I used on the front and I really like how it looks.

work in progress

ha pasado tanto tiempo que realmente no recuerdo cuándo comencé a hacer este quilt. Escogí las telas, las corté y cosí los triángulos en pocos días, pero después de planchar las costuras, estuvieron apilados en uno de mis armarios durante muchos meses...  hasta semana que decidí sacarlos y comenzar a dar forma a un nuevo quilt...

No se si el fin de semana me alcance para poder terminar aunque sea el top, pero verlos en mi pared definitivamente me motiva a intentarlo!

has been so long that I really ca'nt remember when I started making this quilt. I chose fabrics, cut and sewed the triangles in just a few days, but after ironing the seams, they were stacked in one of my cabinets for many months ... until this week that I decided to take them and put them in the way to be a quilt...

I dont know if the weekend will be enough to finish the top, but seeing them on my wall definitely motivates me to try it!
