blogger's quilt festival - fall 2009

Bienvenidos a mi blog!!
Welcome to my blog!!

since i read this post from Amy, i was very exciting with the idea of participating in this great quilt's festival...!!! so here i am..!

This quilt is the first i made without help. That was before i found all those amazing quilting sites on internet... before i discovered quilting blogs, online fabric stores, before i knowing that had fabric designers (yep, i didn't know!), before i knew there was something called "free motion quilting"...
i made it last year (october 2008), just after taking a one week basic course of patchwork and realizing i found a great way to spend my time off!
for that i bought my first sewing machine (a singer 2250 and months later i bought a brother CS6000i and now i want an other..!), my rotary cutters, my cutting mat, my rulers and i started to visit the fabrics shops in my town.
The pattern is from this book (yep, also that was when i started to buy quilting books)and i bought the fabrics in a local shop called "El Puerto de Veracruz", some of them are from moda fabrics and other are old desings from Robert Kauffman, and of course i don't knew these were fabric brands! ... in those days I found to everything or almost everything has been published about quilting was wrote in english and mine is tooo baaad (ups)!!!... so since then and also sef-taught, i've learning a little more of this language...

Then, altrough this quilt had many mistakes and dont have a dramatic design... at least is something special for me...

  7. That is a quilt to treasure -- and welcome to the club. I find the best part of reading quilt blogs is to know that I am not the only one collecting everything quilting.

  8. It's lovely! I was the same, when I made my first quilt I had no idea about all the information on the web, machine quilting or fabric designers.... It's a whole new, big world...
