A+A quilt from my "to do" list

 En noviembre del año pasado mi hermano y su pareja se mudaron juntos así que pensé que un quilt sería un buen regalo para su nueva casa y su nueva vida juntos y bueno, después de algunos meses, aquí lo está...   My brother and his partner moved together last November, so I thought that a quilt would be a good gift for their new home and their new life together, so after a few months, finally, here it is...

El patrón lo obtuve de la revista Quilts and More, otoño de 2008, pero si no la tienes también puedes obtener las instrucciones y descargarlas gratis aquí.       I got the pattern from the Quilts and More Magazine, fall 2008 issue, but if you don't have it and you want it, you can get the full instructions and download it for free here.

Las telas que utilicé son casi las mismas que se muestran en el quilt de la revista y es que los diseños en negro, blanco y amarillo, además de modernos lucen masculinos, justo lo que estaba buscando para ellos. The fabrics I used are almost the same as shown in the magazine, and I think the designs in black, white and yellow looks modern and masculine too, just what I was looking for them.

...así que he tachado una cosa más de mi lista de quehaceres y como siempre, eso se siente bien!!    ...so I've crossed one more thing on my to do list and as always, that feels good!!

Creo que este tema fue muy previsible para mí, pues cualquiera que me visite ha de saber que mis tres perros y mi gata son mis "cuatro patas" favoritos. I believe this theme was very predictable to me, for anyone who visit me already know that my three dogs and my cat are my fours favorites.

Lucio no la ha pasado bien las últimas semanas. Duró más de 15 días con collar isabelino además de verse limitado para salir al jardín con los demás y correr y brincar libremente. Sus heridas ya sanaron pero su lesión en la pata continúa y esta semana volverá a visitar al médico. Es un buen perro. Es un dulce perro al que todos los que no lo conocen le temen porque no saben que él lo único que quiere es jugar, meterse a la fuente y lamerte la cara...    muchas gracias a todos los que han preguntado por su salud, él les manda a todos muchos besos mojados!        Lucio, has not great time in recent weeks. Lasted over 15 days with Elizabethan Collar as well as being limited to go into the garden with his buddies to run and jump freely. His wounds have healed but his injury to his leg continues and this week he'll visit the doctor again. He is a good dog. He's a sweet dog that all who don't knows him feels fear because they don't know that all he wants is play, get a shower at the fountain and lick your face ... thank you very much too all of you who asked me about his health, he sends many wet kisses to all!

Primavera

Finalmente la primavera está con nosotros y no nos queda más que disfrutarla...  flores por todos lagos y días más largos, me encanta cómo el sol entra a la casa y la ilumina...  como si nos invitara a salir al jardín...      Finally spring is with us and just we must enjoy it ... flowers everywhere and longer days, I love how the sun enters in to the house and the iluminate all there... as if it invite us to go out to the garden ...

ya hice el primer helado de canela de este año y aunque sigue siendo mi favorito tengo ganas de experimentar con nuevos sabores, he pensado en plátano y passiflora, aunque también los sabores clásicos siempre son bien recibidos... tienes alguna receta para compartir?     I made the first cinnamon ice cream of the year and even when it still is my favorite, I want to experiment with new flavors, so I'm thinking in banana and passionflower, but also classic flavors are always welcome too... any recipe suggestion?

Japan Relief Sale

Como a todos, mi corazón se ha estremecido con los terribles acontecimientos en Japón y las desvastantes imágnes después de la catástrofe. La fragilidad de la vida y el sufrimiento. Demasiado triste. Están en mi pensamiento y corazón.

Like everyone, my heart was shaken by the horrific events in Japan and the scary images after the disaster. Fragility of life and suffering. Too sad. They are in my mind and all my good wishes are for them.

Por lo que decidí durante el mes de marzo, poner algunos artículos de mi tienda aportanto a la causa de Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund de GlobalGiving Project. So I decide put some stuff from my shop to the cause of Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund, a GlobalGiving Project during all March.

Además, mi hermano tiene en su tienda una ilustración especial que realizó para la causa y está donando el 100% de la ganancia. Also, mi brother has at his shop a special illustration that he created for the cause and his is donating the 100% of proceeds.

perdón por el rosado... no es mi color favorito y puede llegar a hacerme sentir un poco ridícula vistiéndolo... pero a veces puede ser delicioso y como dulce para los ojos...

sorry about the pink... it is very far to be my favorite color, and it can makes me feel a bit ridiculous when I'm wearing it, but sometimes can be delicious and totally eye candy....

Madera. Qué grandioso material natural para trabajar! acaso no todos tenemos algo de madera en casa? Wood. Such great natural material to work with!! I'm sure we all have something made of wood at home!

me encantó la idea de que el tema de hoy fuera este, pues Alex ha encontrado en el trabajo con madera un nuevo hobby, oficio o forma de crear.... y usando desde los troncos que encontramos en el bosque, de algunos árboles que tuvieron que ser derribados o que se cayeron por las tormentas del año pasado o la madera de pallets usados, él ha estado aprendiendo y disfrutando la carpintería...

I love the idea of the theme for today, because Alex has been found in the woodwork a new hobby, a way to create and be creative.... he is using logs found in the forest, wood from some trees that had to be torn down or fell down because the last year's storms until used pallets, but for sure, he's learning and enjoying all the woodwork process...

Al igual que me sucede cuando trabajo en mi cuarto de costura o en la cocina, esa sensación que viene después de hacer algo con tus manos, algo para alguien especial o para tí, es única y te empuja a seguir creando y probando y me encanta que ahora Alex lo tenga cuando ve las cosas que ha hecho....

like happens to me when I work on my sewing room or at the kitchen, that feeling that comes after doing something with your hands, something for someone special or for you, is unique and pushes you to continue doing it and I love that Alex has that feeling too, when he sees the things he has done ....

y algunas veces la gente se pregunta cómo hacer eso?

no tengo una respuesta mágica, pues tiempo libre es algo a veces difícil de conseguir, pero definitivamente apagar la TV ayuda.

I dont have a magic answer, because sometimes free time is quite difficult to get, but definitely I think turn off the TV can help.

Sunday random moments

Ha sido un fin de semana tranquilo, hemos estado en casa, disfrutando de buen clima y teniendo cerca nuestros a nuestros chuchos y Lola... yo he estado trabajando en mi cuarto de costura, preparando nuevas cosas para mi tienda y planeando algunos regalos, pues desde el año pasado tenemos el propósito de no comprar nada de regalos en las grandes tiendas, sino tratar siempre de dar regalos hechos por nosotros, de nuestro jardín o por alguien más, pero que sea hecho en casa, excepto claro, cuando se trate de libros o de algún buen vino.... así que en vista de que vienen algunas fechas especiales, me he dado a la tarea de comenzar a trabajar y no esperar a tener el tiempo encima...

It's been a quiet weekend, we've been home, enjoying good weather with our buddies very close to us... I've been working on my sewing room on new things for my shop and planning some gifts, Alex and I are trying to not buy anything in big shops and give gifts made by us, from our garden, or made by someone else, but homemade, except of course when it comes to books or some good wine.... and because are comming some special dates, I started to work already and not expect to be with limited time...

The nine patch quilt and many months...

Mi quilt nueve parches y muchos meses... para terminarlo... comencé en julio de 2009 en lo que pensé sería un trabajo rápido, pues la idea era hacer un block al día... pero algo pasó y bueno, duró casi todo 2010 guardado en un cajón.... pero una vez que volví a retormar el trabajo en él, el entusiasmo regresó y bueno, aquí está!

many months to finish this quilt... I started work on it in July 2009 in what I thought would a very fast proyect, since the idea was to make a block a day ... but something happened and well, most of 2010 it was in a drawer .... but once I went back to work on it the enthusiasm returned and well, here it is!
